What to Expect During Your Massage.
Massage can help release chronic muscular tension & pain, improve circulation, reduce stress and promotes faster healing of injured muscle tissue. Massage is also known to promote better sleep, reduce anxiety and create an overall sense of well-being.
There are some medical conditions that would make Massage inadvisable. That’s why there is a brief medical history form for you to fill out and it is very important that you make note of any health problems or medications you are taking. In some cases a Doctors approval may be required.
The average massage lasts one hour and includes, head, neck, back, arms and legs. Half hour appointments are available if you are short on time or just care to work on specific areas like neck & back. Many people prefer 60-90 minute sessions for optimal relaxation. Allowing relaxation time for yourself before & after your massage can assist in the relaxation process.
Your massage will take place in a warm, comfortable, quiet room and soft music will be played to help you relax.
Most massage techniques are traditionally performed with the client unclothed; however, you may decide what you want to leave on for your comfort..I will leave the room while you undress, relax onto the table and cover yourself with the clean sheet. You will be covered at all times, only the area being worked on will be exposed. A light hypo-allergenic, moisturizing oil will be used to allow the muscles to be worked on without excess friction on the skin.
During the massage, make yourself comfortable. I will either gently move you or tell you what is needed ( such as lifting your arm) throughout the session. Many people just close their eyes, or even fall asleep. Others like to talk. Feel free to ask any questions you may have during your session.
After the massage, most people feel very relaxed. After an initial period of feeling slowed down, people often experience increased energy.
Since toxins are released from your soft tissues during a massage, it is recommended you drink plenty of water for the next day or so following your massage.
